The Championship Tournament turned out to be all it was supposed to be. Great games all day long with some fantastic finishes. The #1 seeds proved to be too much for the competition with all 3 taking home the trophy. There was a noticeable difference in the execution and level of play from the beginning of the year to the end of the season. In that respect, all players and teams were winners. Remember, 7on7 is designed as a developmental tool to improve passing and receiving skills along with defensive back and linebacker play. I'm certain that the players that participated in this league left it with improved skills and a better appreciation for the passing game. Their hard work will surely be rewarded when tackle season begins. I hope everyone had fun and we hope to see you all back next year.
Here are your champions:
Crowley 2 - Minor Division Champs

Midlothian- Major Division Champs

Burleson 2- Junior High Champs

Here's what you've all been waiting for. The brackets and hour by hour schedule are now posted. The Championship Tournament will be in Crowley at HF Stevens. I am told the field is being treated and will be ready for play on Saturday. Also, Crowley has a back-up field just in case the field should remain in a flea infested state. See the Schedules page for the schedule and brackets. Good Luck everybody!

The final week of regular season play had some expected outcomes as well as surprises. The first surprise came as a result of fleas taking over the HF Stevens field! The result of that surprise worked in our benefit as the last regular season games were played on an upgraded field.
The race for the Minor Division has been tight all year with 4 teams fighting for that # 1 tournament seed. Crowley 2 finally emerged as the top seed with the other 3 6-2 teams having to go to tie-breakers to seed. All I know is that someone will have their hands full with a 6-2 #4 seed!
In the Major Division, Desoto finally was defeated in the final week of the season. The defeat came at the hands of Joshua, who I hear is finally getting all of their players back from baseball to have a late season run. Midlothian defeated Burleson 2 (this outcome was reported to the webmaster the other way around- my apologies). The standings weren't really affected by these outcomes, however, it shows that the tournament is anybody's to win.
The Junior High Division has been very consistant throughout the year with the 2 Burleson teams having another showdown today with the same outcome. Burleson 2 remained the leagues only unbeaten team at the end of the regular season.
We know everybody is anxious to know the tournament location, bracket and schedule. That information will be available as soon as possible and your coaches will know when the website has been updated. Thanks everyone, for a great regular season and good luck next week in the much anticipated Championship Tournament.

Another week in the books with only one week left in regular season play! The day began with the two Burleson teams squaring off against the two Crowley teams in the Junior High division with Burleson coming out on top in both match-ups.
Crowley 1 fell to Whitney in the Minor division moving Whitney up the ranks just in time for tournament seeding. There were several good games in the Minor division today: Crowley 2 bested Burleson 14-10, Midlothian 2 edged out Ft. Worth TCU 8-2, and Midlothian 1 topped Burleson in a make-up game from last week 8-6.
The Major division featured games that were at least 2 touchdown wins with the two top -ranked teams, Midlothian and Desoto, winning again. The two Burleson teams played each other in a re-match from earlier in the year with Burleson 2 getting revenge for an earlier defeat.
I didn't hear any complaints about the officiating thus far, so I will assume that it was done well this week. I did hear that Rick "the flag" Klenke made an appearance in a stripped shirt and made sure that everybody was in check today. One more week to determine tournament seeding with two of three divisions still up in the air. Should make for a great week 8.

More great games today with a couple highly anticipated matchups taking place. In the Minor division, it was business as usual for Crowley with 2 wins for Crowley 1 and 2 to make them each 5-1. Midlothian kept pace with a forfeit victory with Whitney just behind the leaders.
In the Majors, Midlothian finally fell today with a hard fought game against Desoto. Desoto is now the only undefeated team in the league. Midlothian did manage to put the ball in the end zone a couple of times which has not been done by any other teams against Desoto's defense so far this year. Look for a re-match of these 2 tough teams in the tournament to be a good one!
In the Junior High division, the Burleson teams and Crowley teams played each other in two great games. Crowley 1 got the win with a 14-13 score over Crowley 2 while Burleson 2 defeated Burleson 1 for the 2nd time this year with a very tight 22-19 finish.
Two more weeks of regular season play and the season ending tournament remain. Details on the tournament are coming soon.

Week 5 marked the first week of games in Crowley. I wasn't there but based upon the scores, it seems as though the teams on top of the standings don't want to relinquish their spot! In the minor division, Crowley 1 and 2 prevailed again with shutout performances. Midlothian 1stayed on pace with the Crowleyteams with a victory over TCU.
In the major division, Midlothian remains theteam to beat. A fifth straight victory for the Midlothian major team came over Burleson 1. I did hear that The Midlothian Saftey/Qb didn't get a pick today, which would be the first time that I've seenthat happen all year! Crowley's major team got revenge on Joshua with a hard fought victory. Desoto remains the only team to not allow an offensive score, which is amazing in 7 on7.
A new set of officials made their debut today and most reports were positive. Remember that this was their first time to officiate, so give them a chance to get their feet wet and improve upon any mistakes that may have occurred. Report any perceived problems to me and I'll try to get them rectified. Next week will be in Crowley again. The hour by hour schedule will be posted asap.

We were blessed with another great day of weather for the final week of season play in Burleson. Several games were one sided today with a couple of close contests. In the Minor Division, the Crowley teams looked good once again going 2-1 with 2 shutouts. The Midlothian Minor teams squared off against each other with Minor 1 coming out victorious. Burleson's Minor team almost got a W today against a scrappy Whitney team that pulled off the victory with an acrobatic interception.
In the Majors, Midlothian remains the team to beat with a victory over Crowley to go 4-0. Midlothian's ball-hawk safety/QB ended the day with 3 picks including one that would have made ESPN's highlight real if there were some cameras present today! Desoto looks very strong and was able to back up last week's defensive performance with a shutout today. They have yet to give up an offensive score. The Junior High games were all Burleson once again with a combined 88 points! The re-match of these two high flying offenses will be fun to watch.
As a note from the officials, a marked improvement in formation penalties was noted today. The kids seem to be getting the hang of checking if they are properly lined up and it made a difference. The next four weeks will be played in Crowley. A field map is now available on the Maps to Fields page.

Please check the master schedule and the hour by hour schedule to make sure you know what time your games are to be played. With the addition of the Desoto major team, the Major teams that had a bye week previously now have a 12:00 game against Desoto. No other changes were made. Please let your players know about this change.

Week 3 is in the books with a lot of close games and another new team joining our league. The game of the day had to be the double overtime thriller between Whitney and Midlothian 1. The game was nearly won by a Whitney dropped touchdown and a dropped int in OT with Midlothian narrowly sneaking away with the victory. Look for these two teams to go at it in the future when the stakes are higher. Staying with the minors, the TCU team continues to impress with their defense which had its second straight shutout.
In the majors, Midlothian remained unbeaten with a win over Burleson 2. The defensive game of the day was the Joshua team falling to newcomer Desoto in a 6-2 pick fest. Burleson's Junior High teams continued to put up big scores with a combined 74 points!
After looking at the standings you'll find a lot of 2-1 teams in the minor division. Rather than figure out every tie-breaking scenario, I put them in Alpha order with the head-to-heads I am aware of getting the nod. Rest assured the seeding for the Championship Tournament will be done using all the games from throughout the year. There may be separation that naturally occurs and if so that will make my job easier. If there is someone out there with a lot of time on their hands that wants to figure this out, I'll be happy to change the order of the teams in the standings. I just didn't think it was that important in week 3.
Penalties persist for formations. Again, tell your receivers that are supposed to be on the line to check with the official and tell your QBs to make sure all the players are set and give them time to do this properly before calling for the snap. There was some bumping/jamming at the line noticed today. This is one of those 7 on 7 rules that doesn't apply to tackle so be sure to tell your players this is not permitted. Next weeks games will be played at Kerr Middle School again, however, we may be asked to move to the practice field as the Relay for Life will take place the night before and the regular game field may not be ready for play.

Week 2 is complete with some great games taking place today. Only 4 teams remain unbeaten: Minor 2 Crowley, Minor Whitney, Major Midlothian, and Junior High Burleson 2. Overall the players seem to be improving with some outstanding plays made today on both sides of the ball. Ft. Worth TCU got off to a slow start, only to put up 18 2nd half points while playing a shutout on defense. Whitney Minor won today with only 6 players! Again, the Junior High teams from Burleson feature some of the biggest, fastest 7th graders around. Burleson 2 won this week's battle, but look for Burleson 1 to come back with a vengeance in the next game.
Penalties were down for formations, but there are still a lot of receivers out there not checking with the refs whether they are on the line or not. This is a learning experience for the kids, so these types of problems are expected. I imagine that as the weeks go by we will see these penalties diminish. Next week's schedule is already available by viewing the master schedule. The April 9th hour by hour schedule will be posted early next week.
